The job includes a complete interior cleaning to remove stains, odors, and dirt from all surfaces. The exterior is polished to remove light swirls and restore gloss before waxing. Some full-detail packages include engine cleaning, too.

In a general term, a full detail implies that all (or most) areas of the vehicle are cleaned (detailed)… exterior wash, wheels and wheel wells cleaned and dressed, door jambs cleaned, windows, interior vacuumed, interior surfaces wiped down, etc.

A quick interior detail might take two hours, while a comprehensive exterior detail might take up to two days. If the vehicle is detailed regularly, a small coupe, hatchback, or sedan will take four hours or more. It will take at least seven hours for extra-large trucks and minivans.

The frequency that you should get your car details varies by how much wear and tear you put on your vehicle and how often you wash and wax it, but most experts recommend you have it done 2 to 3 times a year, or once every 4 to 6 months.
